The dragon dragon (Latin Dracaena Draco), or dragon tree grows in the subtropical region between Europe and Africa. Its home is the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Madeira and certain areas in western Morocco. It is a very slow-growing tree that can live for more than 200 years. During felling, the tree releases a red resin (sap) known as dragon blood, which characteristically colors the wood from the dragon.
